COLOMBO (News 1st); The Prime Minister says that even if an interim Government is appointed, he lead it as the Prime Minister.

Furthermore, he stated that although some Parliamentarians are requesting him to step down, a majority of MPs are not requesting do so.

"If there are MPs who are requesting him to step down, they must be individuals without proper political knowledge," he noted.

"Nobody has asked me to step down, and I do not think anyone will ask me to step down," the Prime Minister said.

He further stated that even if an interim Government is appointed, it will have to function under him as nobody else would be willing to take up the position.

Speaking on the protestors who are currently occupying Galle Face, the Prime Minister said that the protestors simply continue to occupy the place without coming forth for discussions.

"They should speak and discuss with the Government officials," the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa added that if the protestors are willing, the doors of Temple Trees are open for them to come in at anytime and discuss with officials.
