Countdown Begins for Sri Lanka’s 2027 Budget

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka’s 2027 Budget will be presented to Parliament on November 12, setting the stage for more than a month of debate on the Government’s spending and economic plans for the coming year.

The Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be presented to Parliament for its First Reading on October 7.

The Second Reading debate will commence on November 13 and continue until November 20, with the vote on the Second Reading scheduled for 6.00 p.m. on November 20.

Following the Second Reading vote, the Committee Stage debate will be conducted over 19 days, from November 21 to December 14, during which Members of Parliament will scrutinize allocations and expenditure proposals of individual ministries and institutions.

The Budget process will conclude with the Third Reading vote, which is scheduled to take place at 6.00 p.m. on December 14.
