COLOMBO (News 1st); It is not right of Parliamentarian Diana Gamage to speak of the President extending his tenure without taking the President's opinion into account, says the former President Maithripala Sirisena.
Parliamentarian Diana Gamage on Friday (21) stated in Parliament that the term of office of the President and the Parliament should be extended by another two years.
Speaking further, the former President said that such an incident has never taken place in Sri Lanka, and the Government must be aware of what happened to the former President J.R. Jayawardena who attempted to violate election boundaries, and as a person who took steps to decrease his tenure, no President would take a decision to extend their tenure.
