Vaccination card made mandatory for Sri Pada pilgrimage

COLOMBO (News 1st); The vaccination card has been made mandatory for pilgrims to carry while they are engaging in Sri Pada pilgrimage.

Accordingly, several other COVID-19 guidelines have been implemented on those who are seeking to engage in Sri Pada pilgrimage during this season, which will last from 18th December until 16th May, 2022.

The District Secretariat of the Ratnapura District, issuing an extraordinary gazette stated that pilgrims are expected to wear face masks, maintain distance and follow proper health guidelines during the journey, and after the pilgrimage ends, the pilgrims shall not be permitted to stay in the Sri Pada Compound and shall leave once worshipped.
