Special Traffic and Security Plans in Colombo for Vesak

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Police announced that a special traffic plan is in effect in Colombo to accommodate the large crowds expected for the Vesak festival.

Due to the high volume of visitors expected at Vesak zones, access to certain roads will be regulated. 

Residents and vehicles heading to hospitals or essential service institutions will be allowed entry on a case-by-case basis.

However, container trucks and tipper trucks transporting sand or stones will be strictly prohibited from entering these areas during the festival.

Police further stated that once traffic congestion eases, normal two-way traffic flow will be restored on all affected roads.

In addition, a special security program has been launched to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees visiting the Vesak zones.
