60% of population fully vaccinated: DDGHS

COLOMBO (News 1st); About 60% of the total population of the country has been fully vaccinated by now, the Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services, Specialist Dr. Hemantha Herath says. He further stated that it has also been decided to give the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to selected groups and the necessary stocks are being procured for this purpose. Adding that about 60% of the population have been fully vaccinated, Dr. Herath said that nearly 70% of the people have been given the first dose of the vaccine, and the Government is currently aiming for at least 70% of the population to be fully vaccinated.
