COLOMBO (News 1st); Multiple decisions were taken on Friday (21) to ensure the people and the economy are not negatively affected following travel restrictions coming into effect at 11:00 PM on Friday (21).
The President's Media Division said that the President, Ministers, and relevant officials were informed about these measures during a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat with the Presidential Task Force established to combat COVID – 19 in Sri Lanka
The President had emphasized that travel restrictions should not be an obstacle to transport goods on the eve of the opening of economic centers, for the continuation of agricultural activities, daily cleaning activities including garbage removal in all cities, road development, and other construction activity.
It was advised that if a government or private institution conducting PCR tests identifies a coronavirus-infected person as a result of the test results, the respective institutions should take the responsibility of treating them, said the President's Media Division.
It was also decided to use the facilities of the Ayurvedic hospital system in treating the infected.
The President has stated that the decisions taken so far and the decision that will be taken in the future, were and will be on the advice of the relevant expert groups and stressed that he will not hesitate to take the correct decision on behalf of the people.
