COLOMBO (News 1st) - 20 deaths have been reported due to rabies in Sri Lanka so far.
Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Professor Chandana Abheyaratne, said that four of these deaths were reported from the Puttalam District.
The Minister said that, if social responsibilities had been properly fulfilled as a society, rabies-related deaths, similar to dengue deaths, could have been prevented.
He made these remarks while attending an event held in Colombo yesterday.
