32 Chinese Nationals Arrested in Panadura Over Suspected Online Financial Fraud

COLOMBO (News 1st): Thirty-two Chinese nationals have been arrested following a raid conducted at a hotel in Nalluruwa, Panadura, over suspected online financial fraud.

The raid was conducted following information received by the Panadura Senior Superintendent of Police and under a warrant issued by the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.

The operation involved several police units, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Task Force (STF).

23 computers and several other items were seized during the raid.

The CID is conducting further investigations to determine whether the suspects were operating an illegal online financial fraud operation.

Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals staying at hotels, guesthouses or holiday resorts through emergency numbers 118 or 119, or at the nearest police station.
