The much-anticipated showdown will kick off at 12:30 a.m. Sri Lanka time tomorrow.

Football fans in Sri Lanka will have the opportunity to witness the historic clash live at a massive screening event at Galle Face Green in Colombo, today.

Ahead of the match, fans will be treated to a special concert featuring popular musical band Flashback, and several popular artists such as Bathiya and Santhush, Kanchana Anuradhi, Dinesh Gamage, and more.

Fans are invited to join the celebration at Galle Face Green and be part of an unforgettable World Cup final experience.

Those unable to attend the live screening can enjoy every moment of the final from home, live on Sirasa TV and TV1 as well.

The Final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature a fascinating generational battle, with Spain’s 19-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal going up against his childhood idol, Argentina’s 39-year-old superstar Lionel Messi.

The final will be played at the New York-New Jersey Stadium, also known as MetLife Stadium, the home ground of NFL teams the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Argentina and Spain have faced each other only once before in World Cup history, meeting in the group stage of the 1966 FIFA World Cup in England, where Argentina secured a 2-1 victory. Spain exited the tournament in the group stage, while Argentina advanced to the quarterfinals.

In this tournament, Spain’s attacking charge has been led by Mikel Oyarzabal, who has scored five goals, including one in their semifinal victory over France. Midfielder Rodri has also been instrumental, completing the highest number of passes in the competition.

For Argentina, Lionel Messi remains the central figure, leading the tournament’s scoring charts with eight goals and four assists, making him the favourite for the Golden Boot. Messi found the net in every match up to the Round of 16 and played a key role in Argentina’s progress through the knockout stages with crucial assists.

Lautaro Martinez and Enzo Fernandez have also contributed significantly to Argentina’s attacking strength as they aim to defend their world title.

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup journey reaches its final showdown, the Maharaja Media Network has proudly served as the licensed broadcasting rights holder for Sri Lanka, bringing fans every moment of the tournament live throughout the month on Sirasa TV and TV1.
