COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision was reached to further increase the number of students admitted to universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC) said on Wednesday (Feb. 10).
The number of additional university admissions will be announced in the coming days, Prof. Sampath Amaratunga, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) told News 1st.
According to Prof. Amaratunga, the decision to increase the number of university admissions was reached following discussions with Vice-Chancellors and other relevant authorities.
Discussions were also held with the Treasury on the new admissions and the preparations at faculties in this regard, Prof. Amaratunga further noted.
The university admissions at Medical, Engineering, Management and all other faculties will be increased, UGC Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga added.
