COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken steps to seal an underground secret detention complex known as “Gun Site,” located within the Trincomalee Naval Base.
This action follows extensive investigations revealing that the location had allegedly been used to detain nearly 60 individuals, subject them to torture, and extort ransom, along with several other serious criminal activities.
A magistrate from Trincomalee is scheduled to visit the site tomorrow (18) to carry out an official inspection.
In addition to the ongoing court case involving the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths, further evidence has now emerged indicating that several other individuals were also detained at this secret facility.
Among these cases, proceedings related to Shantha from Kegalle are currently being heard at the Polgahawela Magistrate’s Court.
Furthermore, investigations into the disappearance of two Tamil youths in Colombo have been reported to Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 3, while cases involving the disappearance of an individual named Pradeep from Ibbagamuwa, as well as two young women from Trincomalee, have also been presented before the courts, police stated.
Police further revealed that individuals who had been detained at the facility, along with those involved in its operations, have now come forward to provide confidential statements before the Magistrate.
