12 FATAL ROAD ACCIDENTS IN 24-HOURS

COLOMBO (News 1st): 12 fatal road accidents were reported in a 24-hour window that ended at 6:00 am on Saturday morning (Jan. 02), Sri Lanka Police said. Since 20th December 2020 to-date, a total of 65 people were killed in road traffic accidents, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said. Moreover, 40 people were injured in road accidents, where six sustained critical injuries, according to Police. "Ensure road safety at all times. All drivers should take preventive measures in order to prevent road traffic accidents. In addition to that, pedestrians and passengers also have a responsibility to prevent road traffic accidents," the Deputy Police Chief emphasized.
