COLOMBO (News 1st): The Disaster Management Center states that heavy rains have affected the Northern, Eastern, Central, North Western, and Uva Provinces. 8,021 people from 2,623 families had been affected by the heavy rains. One person has died and four people are missing, The Disaster Management Center further added. Meanwhile, water levels in several reservoirs have risen due to heavy rains. Several spill gates of the Rajanganaya, Deduru Oya, and Kalugal Oya reservoirs have also been opened, said the Director of Water Management of the Irrigation Department, Engineer D. Abeysiriwardena. D. Abeysiriwardena also urged the people living in the low lying areas around Rajanganaya and Deduru Oya reservoirs to be vigilant.
