COLOMBO (News1st): Opposition parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara has raised concerns over certain appointments made to commissions by the parliamentary council. In a parliamentary debate, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya lawmaker pointed out that individuals such as a business tycoon have been appointed to the Public Services Commission. "When such individuals are appointed to the Public Services Commission we cannot be guaranteed that there will be no form of influence on state officials," Nanayakkara argued. However, speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena declared that the topic could not be discussed in the parliamentary chamber.
