USA extends support to develop Sri Lanka's education system

COLOMBO (News 1st): The United States of America has extended its support to develop the education system in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday (Sept. 23). This was revealed during a meeting held between Minister of Education - Prof. G.L. Peiris and US Ambassador to Sri Lanka - Alaina B. Teplitz at the Ministry premises, a press release from the Education Ministry noted. Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz had informed Sri Lanka's Education Minister that the US Embassy could assist in planning, preparing, and implementing English language courses for students undergoing training at the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority. The Ambassador further noted that the fullest co-operation of the USA will be extended for the measures undertaken by the Sri Lankan government to revive the education system in the country. According to the Ministry of Education, Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz had requested that information be provided to the Embassy on the areas that require assistance.
