COLOMBO (News1st) : A special investigation unit has said it will not summon cricketers to record statements, as part of its ongoing probe into the 2011 world cup finals. Sufficient evidence has been recorded and a report will be submitted to the sports ministry secretary on the investigation, according to the investigation unit. Investigators had recorded statements from Aravinda de Silva, chief selector at the time, Upul Tharanga, and Kumar Sangakkara who were part of the team that played the world cup tournament. The Special Investigation Unit on Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports opened a probe after the then sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage claimed the final between Sri Lanka and India had been fixed.
