COLOMBO (News1st) : The Supreme Court on Tuesday instructed the counsel appearing for IGP Pujith Jayasundara to make submissions over a fundamental rights petition on September 10. Jayasundara had petitioned the court last year against former President Maithripala Sirisena's decision to send him on compulsory leave in the aftermath of the April 21st terrorist attacks. The petition was called up in the presence of a three judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices Murdu Fernando, S. Thurairaja and Yasantha Kodagoda. Submissions were postponed today after court was informed that the counsel for the police chief was appearing at a separate case in the presence of a five judge Supreme Court bench.
