*(Updates second paragraph to say that the service is available across all districts)
COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka’s utility regulator on Saturday announced a set of hotlines through which the public can obtain plumbing and electrical services from April 5.
These services will be available across all districts during the curfew, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said in a statement.
The public can contact 1939 for a plumber and 1987 for an electrician, while Lanka Electricity Private Company (LECO) customers can contact 1910.
According to the PUCSL, electricians and plumbers will be dispatched to the relevant locations with the assistance of a database containing their particulars.
“The relevant electricians and plumbers are advised to charge a reasonable fee and issue an acceptable receipt for the service they provide,” the statement read.
Further information regarding this service can be obtained by contacting 1910.
This service is being implemented by the PUCSL in collaboration with the Ceylon Electricity Board, LECO, and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
