COLOMBO (News1st) : A COVID – 19 patient gave birth at the Nagoda General Hospital in Kalutara on Friday, health officials said adding that medical staffers who associated with the mother have been sent for quarantine.
“The patient had not shown any symptoms of the disease. However, medical staff had tested the patient after learning that she was from Pannila,” medical officer of health in Beruwala Dr. Waruna Seneviratne stated.
He added that the woman had not maintained contact with the person who tested positive from the Pannila area earlier this week, after which the area was placed under lockdown.
However, the medical officer stated that the woman’s husband had maintained contact with the first patient at a shop. “We suspect that the woman had contracted the disease as a result of this,” he noted.
