COLOMBO (News 1st): The Akurana Town in Kandy is currently subject to quarantine and containment process.

This was confirmed to News 1st by Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

In addition, the Military Spokesperson added, movement in and out of Akurana is prohibited until further notice.

Reports says, a heavy military presence is experienced in the area.
