Spill Gates Opened at 9 Major Reservoirs Amid Heavy Rainfall

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Irrigation says spill gates of nine major reservoirs, including Lunugamwehera and Rajanganaya, have been opened due to the prevailing heavy rainfall.
Director of the Water Management Unit, H.M.P.S.D. Herath, stated that spill gates of five additional medium-scale reservoirs have also been opened.
The Department of Irrigation advised residents living in low-lying areas of the reservoirs to remain vigilant.
