Grade 5 students to receive Scholarship grant via online process

Colombo (News 1st):  The Ministry of Education says that steps have been taken to provide scholarship grants through an online process for students who have passed the Grade Five Scholarship Examination. The ministry said that this step has been taken to ensure that the scholarship payment process for students would be made more efficient. The Ministry of Education has also prepared a comprehensive database of all eligible students for the scholarship grant. The money will be credited to students' bank accounts online by the 10th of every month. Nearly 350,000 students sit for the Grade 5 scholarship examination each year. They added that currently around 20,000 students from low-income families are given the scholarship grant. Accordingly, all students who passed their Grade Five Scholarship Examination receive Rs. 750 per month.
