2 officers attached to SB Dissanayake's security detail, arrested

Colombo (News 1st): According to the Police 2 Ministerial Security Division Police Constables attached to MP S. B. Dissanayake's security detail have been arrested in connection with last evening's (November 6) shooting incident in Polpitiya, Ginigathhena. Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the 02 pistols in their possession have also been taken into custody. 2 people were injured in the shooting which took place at around 8.30 last night. The injured have been hospitalized in Karawanella and Ginigathhena. SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the security officials of MP SB Dissanayake had shot 2 people for obstructing the vehicle the MP was traveling in last night. Police suspect that three shots were fired based on the discovery of three empty ammunition shells at the scene of the shooting. Meanwhile, SLPP Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa says he is deeply saddened by the incident on his Twitter page. He says "if true, I hope authorities will take immediate action". In his tweet, Gotabaya Rajapaksa reaffirmed his promise to uphold Law & Order.
