Fake news and Election state resource abuse on the rise

Colombo (News 1st): The Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka has announced an email address through which the general public can make complaints with regard to false election propaganda and fake news. Yasiru Kuruvitage, the Chairman of the ITSSL stated that complaints can be made via [email protected]. Meanwhile, the National Election Monitoring Centre has stated that certain voters have been subject to external pressures for expressing their political opinion on social media. The National Organizer of the Centre Rasanga Harischandra stated that they are in discussions with foreign election monitors too. He also added that the use of State Resources for election activities has increased, with 99 of 214 complaints received pertaining to the matter.
