Colombo (News 1st): Several views were expressed following the No Confidence Motion vote today (July 11). Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking to the media noted that they asked for help and it happened accordingly.
When questioned what is his future course of action, he noted that it won't take that long to topple the government. He said the people will do the needful.
Journalists also questioned regarding discussions held with the Tamil National Alliance. Responding to this Opposition Leader said they have not yet spoken to them.
JVP MP Bimal Ratnayake said the main point here is that 6 UPFA MPs and 11 MPs who joined Mahinda Rajapaksa from the UNP were not present today and noted that even Udaya Gammanpila wasn't there.
He said this would have been a good challenge for the government today, but what happened was, the TNA supported the government once again. He added that 11 MPs from the Rajapaksa faction didn't participate and that's why it happened in this manner.
