Thilanga wants Batticaloa Campus as Defence University

COLOMBO (News 1st) - UPFA Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala has submitted a private members motion to the parliament to convert the controversial Batticaloa Campus into a State Defence University. General Secretary of the Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake confirmed this with the News 1st. The private member's motion proposes that it is a national requirement to pay attention to the Batticaloa Campus Pvt Ltd and provide a viable solution to it. MP Sumathipala noted that steps should be taken to establish confidence among the public regarding national security and to ensure that Sri Lanka will not face another atrocity in the future. The parliamentarian noted that the Batticaloa Campus Pvt Ltd should be taken under the purview of the Defence Ministry and be converted into a defence university as a measure to protect the country from the radicals who uphold extremist ideologies.
