Mosquito larvae density spike in North, Eastern and Western provinces

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Health Entomology Science Officers Association stated that the density of mosquito larvae has increased in several provinces including Northern, Eastern and Western provinces. Chairman of the association, Najith Sumanasena, noted the prevailing weather conditions of warm temperature and intermittent rains has increased the density of the larvae. According to Sumanasena, Britto Index which measures the density of mosquitoes has increased by a value between 10 to 20.
