COLOMBO (News 1st) - Professor G.L. Peiris, Chairman of SLPP said that secret agreements between the current government and US would seriously jeopardize Sri Lanka.
He noted that a number of foreigners arrive in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan authorities have no authority over them. They can freely wander the streets of Sri Lanka, whatever they do, does not fall under the jurisdiction of Sri Lanka, their communication devices cannot be monitored by TRC and whatever they bring into the country cannot be examined by Sri Lanka Customs.
He added that no one knows who they are and what their goals are, they could be foreign service personnel, gathering intel and attempting to breach national intelligence services which cannot be taken lightly.
He went on to note that no foreign personnel should be granted diplomatic immunity in this manner and the secret agreements they signed should be publicized.
