Police to conduct search operations during curfew

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police curfew was re-imposed in Kalmunai, Samanthurai and Chawalakadai from 6.00 this evening (April 29). According to police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunesekara, the curfew will be imposed in the said areas until 8.00 am tomorrow (30).

Police search operations

Security forces including the police and Sri Lanka Army conducted special search operations in Kalmunai, Saindamaruthu and other surrounding villages. During the operation, officers found a locally manufactured firearm abandoned on the road following a tip-off by locals. Subsequently, security forces seized a sword and several military uniforms, while searching a house in the area. More search operations are to be conducted throughout the night during the curfew.
