Colombo (News 1st): The deep depression over the south-east Bay of Bengal to the south-east of Sri Lanka is now located about 730 km south-east of Pottuvil.
The Meteorology Department warns that it is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours and then into a severe cyclonic storm during next 24 hours.
They added that the storm is very likely to move north-westwards along and off the east coast of Sri Lanka and reach north Tamilnadu coast (India) on the evening of April 30th 2019.
Cloudy skies can be expected over most parts of the island. Meanwhile, showers will occur at several places in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Central provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places elsewhere.
The Met department requests the general public, naval and fishing communities to be attentive about future advisories.
