"I obtain positions with the people's mandate" - Min. Sajith Premadasa

Colombo (News 1st): Deputy Leader of the United National Party, Minister Sajith Premadasa emphasized that he obtains positions to serve the people, only with the consent of the people and not via any other means. He called on the general public not to be misled by rumours about him. Speaking at an event in Walasmulla, Sajith Premadasa said his family tree consists of the 6.1 million families in the country and his relatives are the 22 million people in the country who go through various difficulties in life. He said he is prepared to use the state power to serve the people irrespective of any differences adding some fear in his preparedness. Sajith Premadasa said that he never betrayed his party or the party leadership and he refused to accept the post of Prime Minister on 71 separate occasions. He noted that this was not because he does not have aspirations for the post or a higher position but because he wanted to achieve the position with the support of the people.
