220 housemaids stranded in Middle East

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Foreign Employment Bureau stated that 220 Sri Lankan housemaids have sought shelter at safe houses across the Middle East. According to the General Manager of Foreign Relations and Procurement Senarath Yapa, the Sri Lankan women are being held at twelve safe houses in Riyad, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Dubai and Jordan. Senerath Yapa added that a majority; 149 of women are being held in Kuwait. He concluded that preparations are being made to bring them back safely to the island.
