IGP calls on Chief Prelates of Malwatte and Asgiriya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Inspector General of Police called on the chief prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters yesterday (March 14). The IGP invited the chief prelates for the annual almsgiving carried out to bestow blessings on the police department. The IGP called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero and then called on the chief prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana thero and obtained blessings. IGP Jayasundara also called on the Anunayaka of the Malwatte Chapter Most Ven. Dimbulkumbure Sri Wimaladamma thero. In a discussion with the IGP Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Sri Wimaladamma Thero, Anunayaka of the Malwatte Chapter said that the effort taken by the IGP, the President and STF commandant senior DIG Latiff to eradicate corruption and drugs in the country is invaluable. The Thero noted that this service which is being carried out by the IGP under the President's supervision should be carried out without any fear. The Thero added that even at the risk of losing his job that he should now worry about doing what is right. The IGP then obtained blessings of the temple of the sacred tooth relic.
