COLOMBO (News 1st) – Sri Lanka Navy stated that seven Indian fishermen who were illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters of Eastern seas were apprehended yesterday(February 09).
The arrest had been made during a Naval patrol in the seas off Kokkuthuduvai area in Pulmudai and the dhow cruise they used had also been taken into naval custody.
According to police, the suspects are aged 15, 21, 25 and 30.
The apprehended fishermen were brought to the naval dockyard and produced for a medical test before they were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Trincomalee to be processed.
The suspects are to be produced before Trincomalee Magistrates court.
