COLOMBO (News 1st); A diplomatic exchange between India and Sri Lanka has drawn widespread attention online, as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly acknowledged Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s congratulatory message, reaffirming the strong and enduring ties between the two nations.
In a message shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi expressed appreciation for the Sri Lankan President’s warm wishes, responding, “Thank you, President Dissanayake, for your warm wishes.”
He further emphasized the importance of bilateral relations, stating that India “deeply values its enduring friendship with Sri Lanka and remains committed to advancing our special and multifaceted partnership.”
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had earlier extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on achieving a historic milestone by becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in the history of the Republic of India. In his message, the Sri Lankan leader highlighted the close relationship between the two countries and expressed optimism about further strengthening cooperation in the future.
On Wednesday (10), Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in a formal letter conveyed his deep appreciation for India’s unwavering friendship and the personal support extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during challenging times.
In his message, President Dissanayake noted that at a time when India is steadily advancing toward immense prosperity and success in a remarkable historic phase, Sri Lanka looks forward to continuing its journey based on the unprecedented momentum in bilateral relations between the two nations.
