Plans to deploy investigating team to Dubai

COLOMBO (News 1st) - At the time of arrest, drug kingpin "Makandure Madhush" and 31 other suspects were under the influence of drugs. A senior police officer in the Special Task Force (STF) said that this was confirmed after the suspects were subjected to blood tests. Infamous drug kingpin "Makandure Madush" and 30 others were arrested at a hotel in Dubai on the 5th of this month following a joint operation launched by Sri Lankan and Dubai forces. It was believed that suspects were arrested while attending the birthday celebration of one of Makandure Madush's children. The other key underworld figures arrested along with "Makandure Madush" were "Kanchipani Imran" and "Angoda Chooti." The senior police officer added that discussions are being conducted at a diplomatic level to extradite the suspects to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, plans are underway to deploy a Sri Lankan investigation team to Dubai to further investigate the arrests.
