Warrant re-issued for the arrest of former US ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Fort Magistrate's Court reissued an open warrant today (October 03) for the arrest of Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States of America, Jaliya Wickramasuriya. The warrant was issued on the charges of allegedly misusing state funds worth USD 132,000 during his tenure as the Ambassador. Earlier he was held in remand custody on the same charges and released on bail by the High Court. The former ambassador who is believed to be in USA flew overseas for the purpose of receiving medical treatment. Warrants were re-issued today due to his failure to attend court proceedings in Colombo.
