COLOMBO (News 1st) – At a meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and Shenggen Fan, Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute, the latter had assured a viable solution will be provided to protect cultivations from wild elephants.
The meeting outlined that over 40% of cultivations are been destroyed by wild elephants.
Fan, Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute, further expressed his willingness in aiding the government’s mission in eradicating mal-nutrition from amongst the people of Sri Lanka. Fan added that a Memorandum of Understanding is currently been prepared to provide support and aid.
