70% drop in Dengue cases

Colombo (News1st): The number of dengue patients reported this year has decreased by 70% compared to last year. The National Dengue Eradication Unit said over 38,500 cases have been reported, the deadly disease has claimed the lives of 40 individuals so far this year. Dr. Prashila Samaraweera said there were concerns of a spike in cases together with the onset of the monsoon season. As a result, a dengue eradication week will be held in several areas of the island starting from today (September 26) till the 2nd of next month.
