Minister Rajitha inquires into injection that caused visual impairment in Nuwara Eliya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has ordered for an immediate inquiry into reports which claimed that patients who received treatment from an Eye Clinic at the District General Hospital in Nuwara Eliya had experienced certain complications. The Director General of Health Services had instructed the Director of the District Hospital to immediately suspend the use of the vaccination which was used at the Eye Clinic. Reports claim 55 patients had attended the Eye Clinic which was organized recently and 17 of them were hospitalized after they had complained of certain complications. Sources said the patients are being administered with medication and they are showing positive results. The Director General of Health Services went on to note there were no reports of complications from other Hospitals where this particular medication was used. He went on to note that samples of the medication have been sent to the National Drug Quality Assurance Laboratory for tests.
