Trading of securities of MTD Walkers PLC halted

Colombo (News1st):  The Colombo Stock Exchange says the trading of securities of MTD Walkers PLC has been halted. MTD Walkers PLC was at the center of controversy recently. According to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), trading of MTD Walkers was halted at 03:37 this afternoon. CSE had sought clarification from MTD Walkers PLC on debentures, however as the company had not responded, this measure had been taken. Over the recent days, Jehan Amaratunga the Executive Deputy Chairman at MTD Walkers PLC faced allegations of securing a loan to the tune of billions whilst holding a position of Director at People's Bank.
