Railway salary anomalies to be resolved in 3 months

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, G. S. Withanage states that Minister of FinanceMangala Samaraweera had informed Railway trade unions of setting up a new salary scale for the government servants in future. The Minister had also stated that the salary anomalies of railway workers would be rectified within 3 months. Minister Managala Samaraweera has expressed these views discussions carried out with the Railway trade unions at the Ministry of Finance last evening (August 13). The discussion also included Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the Secretary to the Minister of Transport, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and theSecretary of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission. During the meeting, the Minister had also promised to raise this issue regarding salary anomalies at the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held today.
