Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata dies aged 82

Japanese anime director Isao Takahata, co-founder of the famed Studio Ghibli, has died aged 82. Takahata passed away on the 5th of April at a hospital in Tokyo, according to sources. USA Today reports that Takahata died of lung cancer. Takahata was nominated for an Oscar in 2015 for "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" but is best known for his film "Grave of the Fireflies". Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki founded Studio Ghibli in 1985, and it became a world-renowned animation studio producing blockbusters such as Castle in the Sky, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
