‘Atmosphere of Stillness’ - Where Every Painting Preserves A Memory

COLOMBO (News 1st); A remarkable collection of paintings inspired by memory, personal experience, and the quiet beauty of everyday life is now captivating art enthusiasts in Colombo through a new exhibition titled "Atmosphere of Stillness."

Presented by artist Inaje Dilshan Fernando, the exhibition brings together a carefully curated selection of still-life paintings that transform ordinary objects and familiar surroundings into powerful visual narratives. Drawing inspiration from a lifetime of experiences, the collection reflects memories, treasured possessions, and moments that have become inseparable from the artist's personal journey.

The exhibition opened on September 3 at the Curado Art Space in Colombo, inviting visitors into a world where stillness becomes storytelling and everyday objects become vessels of memory.

Speaking about the exhibition, Inaje Dilshan Fernando said "Atmosphere of Stillness" represents his latest body of work and is distinguished by its focus on the still-life genre, an artistic form centered on the arrangement and representation of objects.

According to the artist, the paintings seek to capture experiences gathered throughout his life, along with memories and objects accumulated over the years that have become deeply intertwined with his identity and personal history.

Many of the works have been created in the classical realism style, allowing intricate details, textures, and emotions to emerge with striking authenticity. A significant portion of the collection explores the world immediately surrounding the artist, particularly the lives of fishermen and farmers whose daily realities are woven into the visual language of the exhibition. Elements of the broader environment also feature prominently, creating a deeply rooted portrayal of life, labor, and memory.

Through these works, Fernando offers viewers more than a display of paintings. He invites them into moments suspended in time, where familiar objects, rural livelihoods, and personal recollections merge to create an atmosphere that is both intimate and universally relatable.

"Atmosphere of Stillness" will remain open to the public at the Curado Art Space in Colombo from September 4 through September 10, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a collection that beautifully bridges memory, realism, and the enduring poetry of everyday life.
