Official Email Addresses to Be Issued to All Government Officials

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Digital Economy says the government has decided to provide official email addresses to all government officials.

Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne said the initiative will help connect the public service and facilitate faster communication between government institutions.

He said the official email system will also make it easier to share documents and other essential data, while supporting activities such as video conferencing.

The Deputy Minister noted that many government officials currently use personal email addresses for official work.

He said introducing government-issued email addresses will help streamline data exchange and further accelerate the government’s digitalization programme.
