COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka's public transport network has received a fresh boost with the arrival of seven low-floor buses donated by Japan under the longstanding development partnership between the two countries.

The donation, aimed at supporting the advancement of public transportation services in Sri Lanka, was made jointly by the Government of Japan and the citizens of Yokohama City.

The seven buses were officially handed over to the Government of Sri Lanka by Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akio Isomata, symbolizing the continuing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Designed to offer easier access and greater convenience for passengers, particularly the elderly and persons with mobility challenges, the low-floor buses are expected to enhance the quality of public transport services while improving accessibility for daily commuters.
