Motorcycle Linked to Payagala Shooting Found

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police investigating the fatal shooting in Payagala have recovered the motorcycle believed to have been used by the gunmen.

According to Police, the motorcycle was found abandoned in the Aladuwatta area of Dodangoda, several hours after the shooting.

Investigators say inquiries are continuing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The shooting occurred last night when two individuals who had arrived on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire using an automatic weapon.

The victim, a 30-year-old resident of Payagala, died as a result of the shooting.

Police stated that the deceased was believed to have been an associate of the organized criminal known as "Panadura Nilanga."

Investigators suspect the shooting may have been linked to a dispute connected to narcotics activities, although inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact motive.
