Police Launch Asset Investigations Into Properties Linked to 25 Major Criminals

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police stated that broad investigations have now been launched regarding the properties of 25 organized crime and drug traffickers who are hiding abroad or have been brought back to the country.

This is being directed by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.

The police noted that this includes investigations into properties belonging to Shiran Basik, a large-scale drug trafficker who was recently arrested and placed under detention.

They also mentioned that prohibition orders were recently obtained against several properties purchased in his son's name.

Additionally, investigations are currently underway regarding local properties belonging to criminals such as Kosgoda Suji, Rathgama Vidura, Ratmalane Saima, and Kanjipani Imran.

Police stated that facts will be reported to court regarding all such properties acquired through illegal means, and necessary actions will be taken.
