Police Crack Down on False LTTE Camp Narrative

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect accused of spreading unverified and false information claiming that an LTTE training camp was operating within the Akkarayankulam-Palai Reserve has been arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID).

Police said the suspect had allegedly circulated a video on social media containing unsubstantiated claims regarding the existence of an LTTE training facility in the area.

The arrested individual has been identified as a 46-year-old resident of Bellanwila, Boralesgamuwa.

According to police, he is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.

Police further stated that legal action is expected to be instituted against the suspect under the provisions of the Sri Lanka Penal Code and the Police Ordinance.
